The Loveland Police Department Offer a Safe Place

by Dana Rieck

Police offer safe place

After a violent assault tied to a Longmont Craigslist ad, Loveland police say their lobby is open to people looking to conduct on-line business.

In the wake of a violent assault on a pregnant woman lured to a Longmont home by a Craigslist ad, Loveland officials have designated the police building lobby as a safe zone for online meet ups.

Loveland police chief Luke Hecker said he wants the public to know they may come to the lobby at 810 East 10th Street to conduct any legal transaction made between unfamiliar parties. " this week has created a real sense of urgency to do this, and I am glad to do it," he said. " The people need to know our staff will not be involved in these transactions, it's simply a location they can come to finalize those transactions."

designating a lobby as a safe zone is something Weld County Sheriff Steve reams initiated at the end of February. Hecker said he saw others in Colorado implementing this concept and thought it was good for the community, so he began a discussion about it with employees a few weeks ago.

The lobby is open for this kind of use during and after business hours - people wishing to use the lobby once the building is locked can use the phone in the foyer to gain access. Hecker noted that it should be taken as a red flag if someone refuses to meet at the police station. For more information contact Loveland police at 970-667-2151.

A recent Demand Institute report revealed “nearly half of all American households plan to move at some point in the future.”

Seventy-five percent of those surveyed in the report cited one or more ‘location-related reasons’ for their eagerness to move. Here are the top 5 reasons:

  1. Safer Neighborhood – 30%
  2. Closer to Family – 27%
  3. Change of Climate – 26%
  4. Closer to Work – 25%
  5. For a New Job – 23%

While the majority of Americans (74%) will move within their home state, for the 26% planning to call a new state home, it is important to know that prices in each state are appreciating at different rates and waiting to buy or sell your home could cost you more in the long run.

The map below was created using the FHFA’s latest Home Price Index and shows year-over-year price gains in each state.

Bottom Line

If your plan for 2015 includes relocating to a new state, meet with a local real estate professional in that area who can help you find the best fit for you and your family’s needs.
